The passionate students behind Kentucky's premier hackathon

Annika Chadha

When I walked into my first hackathon a year ago, I was immediately captivated by the atmosphere of creativity and collaboration—the energy of hundreds of developers working together to turn ideas into reality. However, as I searched for teammates, I discovered something troubling: I was surrounded by college students and industry professionals, but there wasn't a single other high school student in the room. This moment of realization sparked a question that would change everything: why wasn't there a space where high school students in Kentucky could access these same transformative learning experiences and connect with the tech community?

That question became the foundation for Hack the Track, Kentucky's premier high school hackathon. We've created a platform where students can demonstrate their technical abilities, collaborate on meaningful projects, and build relationships with mentors and industry leaders. Our mission is to bridge the gap between education and innovation, giving Kentucky's young technologists the tools and opportunities they need to shape the future. Through hands-on coding challenges and real-world problem solving, we're not just hosting an event—we're cultivating the next generation of tech leaders who will drive change in our communities.
